Media & Events « Back On July 16th, 2009 Tommy Sharp (President/CEO) and Sam Rangel (Sales & Marketing Director) were in Forsyth, GA and conducted a “burn” on what we named the “The Burn Shack”. This structure constructed of 4 (four) 4’ X 8’ sheets of OSB Particle Board was coated with +/- 100 mils of ThermaCote® Special Fire Resistant Coating. Fireman Ray Fitting, who conducted the “burn” and is now retired, was a 25 year veteran of the department. To ignite the fire, he used “Excelsior” with an accelerant to set the fire. Based on his experience, Fireman Fitting (and knowing the extreme flammability of OSB Particle Board) expected the “Burn Shack” to be burnt to the ground and in ashes within 3 minutes. As we are documenting this shack stood up to an absolutely intense fire for almost 14 minutes (13:43 minutes). Although the “Shack” fell apart at the 13:43 minute mark, the back wall was still pretty much intact and continued to burn several more minutes. Testimonial from Captain Ray Fitting
